Rounding up 2018’s Wrexham Food & Drink Festival

Wow, we're absolutely blown away by the response from everyone that attended this year. From the public that attended to the exhibitors that took part and helped make the weekend a success, the atmosphere was brilliant and the feelgood factor was out in force. In the face of adversity, with what can only be described as terrible weather, we saw well over 5500 people attend over 2 days.

Wow, we’re absolutely blown away by the response from everyone that attended this year. From the public that attended to the exhibitors that took part and helped make the weekend a success, the atmosphere was brilliant and the feelgood factor was out in force. In the face of adversity, with what can only be described as terrible weather, we saw well over 5500 people attend over 2 days.

This year featured well over 70 exhibitors, nearly double of previous years, mostly all from the local area. The passion and authenticity of every single exhibitor shone through, and although we’re biased, we’re quite sure couldn’t be rivalled by anyone. Whether you attended for the artisan cheese producers, the organic honey, small batch gins, locally reared butchery or a massive range of baked delights, you were sure to walk away with an absolute find.

Local Chefs from Wrexham Counties best restaurants showed off their skills, wowed that crowd with a jammed packed theatre stage well attended all weekend. Featuring local celebrities such as Joey Jones of Croes Howell, Elliot Knox from the Rhug Estate and Brian Mellor from Harthill Cookery School to name a few, they all impressed with their own styles and whitty banter on stage. But the star of the show had to be Alun Birchall, who compared the weekend in a unique and laid-back style.

As well as all the usual foodie delights that you’d expect to see, we were entertained all weekend by the regions most reputable, and talented choirs, bands and spoken word artists. All of which gave a rounded and easy-going atmosphere that made the weekend that extra bit special.

It’s really important to acknowledge our sponsors, who not only supported us financially they also contributed their time, expertise and contact to make it a success. Without whom the event would be possible.

As we’re closing it down for a few months, we’re reflecting on a job well done by all of the volunteers that made it possible. The energy that everyone has put in to this year’s event went above and beyond expectations, and we can’t thank everyone enough.

We look forward to seeing everyone again in 2019. Lets get planning!!
