Frequently Asked Questions

We get asked a lot of questions about the event, so have compiled the below Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) list - however if there is anything more we can help with please just email team@wrexhamfoodfestival.wales and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

The Event

Who is behind it?

The lead organisers are Alex Jones from 'The Bank Bar' in the town centre, and Sam Regan from the 'Lemon Tree'. A committee is in place made up of local traders with a food, drink or local connection. The formal entity running the festival is This Is Wrexham Tourism Partnership.

What has changed?

The food festival has been run by Nightingale House Hospice for the last decade, however they decided to no longer put the event on. Rather than see the event not held for 2018 the above group were keen to put the event on, and look to grow it over the next three years. We hope to build on the great foundations in place.

Is this a for-profit event?

No. Those helping organise the event are doing so on an entirely voluntary basis. We hope the festival will break even, and if there is a surplus we will be splitting that sum between local good causes and retaining a starter fund to help make the next event bigger and better.

Do you need volunteers?

We are always keen to hear from anyone with specific skillsets or those who want to help out on the day. We are putting together a really great voluntary team, and would love to keep growing it!

Is this a Wrexham Council / Welsh Government / Other public entity event?

No - as above, this is an event run by a group in Wrexham, for the benefit of Wrexham

ON THE DAY

What disabled access is there?

There will be ramp access through the entrance on to the field and disabled toilets are provided.

Can I bring a picnic? (or own food, own alcohol?)

We won't be stopping anyone bringing food, however would encourage you to embrace the event and try something new and support the traders instead! Your own alcohol will not be allowed for licensing reasons.

What can't I bring in?

No deckchairs, gazebos or other garden furniture is allowed. There will be seating and cover at the festival, so we would ask those attending to be considerate to others.

Are dogs allowed?

Yes. We would ask they are kept on a lead, and be mindful it is a food and drink festival. Please remember poo bags!

Where can I park?

Council owned car parks will be FREE for the event, and there is plenty of parking in and around the town. Please check car parks for details!

Can my carer go in for free?

Yes - anyone with a valid child or adult ticket is eligible.

Any Wheelchair Mobility information?

We hope to have details from AVOW very shortly.

What are you doing about recycling?

We will have designated bins to ensure recycling is possible, and would encourage everyone attending to be conscious of their litter waste as well as food waste. You can read our policy here.

What are you doing about use of plastic?

We are encouraging everyone to be aware of the issues surrounding plastic use, and excess packaging. Although the event will not be plastic free this year, we are exploring how that could be possible in future years.

Will people accept credit/debit cards?

Card payments will be possible on the entrance for tickets and entry - however for speed we advise purchasing tickets online in advance. Payments per trader inside the festival is in the hands of the traders, but we expect the majority if not all will.

Is there a cash machine on-site?

No, but the nearest cash point is Natwest on Lord Street, and others are available!

Do you cater for vegetarians and other dietary requirements?

There will be a range of food and drink on sale throughout the event, and you will need to check with individual traders for any allegen, dietary or other information.

There is 24 hour onsite security before, during and after the event. On the event days there is additional security, voluntary stewards, first aid and event staff.

Can I bring my DSLR camera / video equipment ?

Yes! We encourage as much filming, pictures and social sharing of the event - and would love you to share it with us too. We are not in a position to pay for any video licences, however aim to make a gallery of the event, and share our what people experienced - so share your links to us via @WrexhamFood or email over and we will make sure we share with a credit.
